Our farm story

Grazer Farms began in 2021 in the rolling Ozark Mountains of Southern Missouri.  Our 300 acre farm began as a breeding-stock operation of cattle and sheep – providing other farms with high quality genetics for grass-efficient livestock.  Soon, overwhelming demand for the meat from these superior animals shifted our focus towards a new direction.  The decision was made to offer nation-wide shipping for folks and families desiring the healthiest food money can buy.

We hold a deep appreciation and conviction for the nutritional value of foods grown on small farms that utilize grass-based, organic, and regenerative practices.  We believe these foods ultimately heal, nourish and revitalize our bodies that have become deficient of vitamins and minerals, or afflicted with autoimmune disease.  We also recognized that within our own community of local small farms, the healthiest foods in the world are being grown – and people want access to it!

Grazer Farms was therefore reborn to meet this overwhelming demand for healing-foods. To provide access to these hidden-gems of small regenerative farms that BIG AGriculture strives to obfuscate in hopes they’re never discovered.

OUR VISION is to be YOUR GO-TO FARM where every product offered and any product you select will meet your high standards of quality and safety. We are 100% transparent – and always will be.  We want to be your choice for foods you proudly and confidently feed your family.

Are you certified organic?

All Grazer Farms’ animals, land, pastures, feeds, minerals and watering systems have been maintained with stringent, 100% organic principles. But to answer the question directly (for the government) NO, we are not “certified” organic. Here’s the deal: unfortunately, the state of Missouri dropped a state-run organic-certification program and turned it over to a private certifier several years ago. The private certifier wanted 3% of the gross income of the preceding year to maintain the license.  We politely declined and told them where to shove it.  Since then, over 50% of Missouri organic producers have let their certification lapse.

Does Grazer Farms adhere to Regenerative principles?

Yes – 100% – And before it was “cool.”

We’re the real deal, folks.  We don’t pay for dubious (fake) certifications like… *cough* some out there.  Unfortunately, you can certify just about anything these days.  We’ve been doing this a long time – before it was popular- and we farmed regeneratively for us and our land, not as a sales gimmick. A great way to keep an eye on us is to follow our social media, subscribe to our email list for articles and news, or just contact us and schedule a visit sometime.

Other Ingredients Added to Water:

Raw Organic Local Honey (first week)

Lucy’s Organic Apple Cider Vinegar (weeks 1-4)

Do you use any antibiotics, steroids or hormones?

Never.  Well…ok if there’s a sick animal, we will treat it to save its life.  But that animal will never turn into food.  After it recovers we usually sell it off at auction.

Are any of your animals ever vaccinated?

Only our cattle receive a vaccination at a very young age for something called “Black Leg.”  They receive it as calves, and the vaccine has well cycled out of their system years before that animal is harvested.

Is your beef aged?

All our beef is aged for 18-21 days before processed. We hope to soon offer non-aged low-histamine beef.

Do you offer low-histamine (unaged) beef?

Not yet.  We hope to in the near future. Stay tuned.

Why corn and soy free?

Why Soy Free?

The dangers of human consumption of soy are becoming widely recognized. Likewise, animals that consume soy experience these same harmful effects and transfer it to us when we consume them. Remember: “You are what you eat”

Here’s a list of the harmful effects:

  1. High levels of phytic acid in soy reduce assimilation of calcium, magnesium, copper, iron and zinc. Phytic acid in soy is not neutralized by ordinary preparation methods such as soaking, sprouting and long, slow cooking. High phytate diets have caused growth problems in children.
  2. Trypsin inhibitors in soy interfere with protein digestion and may cause pancreatic disorders. In test animals, soy containing trypsin inhibitors caused stunted growth.
  3. Soy phytoestrogens disrupt endocrine function and have the potential to cause infertility and to promote breast cancer in adult women.
  4. Soy phytoestrogens are potent antithyroid agents that cause hypothyroidism and may cause thyroid cancer. In infants, consumption of soy formula has been linked to autoimmune thyroid disease.
  5. Vitamin B12 analogs in soy are not absorbed and actually increase the body’s requirement for B12.
  6. Soy foods increase the body’s requirement for vitamin D.
  7. Fragile proteins are denatured during high temperature processing to make soy protein isolate and textured vegetable protein.
  8. Processing of soy protein results in the formation of toxic lysinoalanine and highly carcinogenic nitrosamines.
  9. Free glutamic acid or MSG, a potent neurotoxin, is formed during soy food processing and additional amounts are added to many soy foods.
  10. Soy foods contain high levels of aluminum which is toxic to the nervous system and the kidneys.

Why Corn Free?

There are growing concerns about corn being a more common allergy than people think. Even though it is not one of the top eight allergens (peanuts, tree nuts, wheat, milk, egg, shellfish, fish, and soy) it is still an allergen for many people.

In addition to being a potential allergen, corn for livestock feed is similar to candy for children. Corn contains simple sugars, which can be converted easily into energy. This energy can be particularly useful in cold winters to help keep animals warm. In excess though, particularly in meat birds, this causes rapid weight gain.

Health Issues for you to consider:

In general, grain-fed chicken meat is lower in omega-3 fatty acids, conjugated linoleic acid, magnesium, calcium and potassium when compared to pasture raised chicken meat. Feeding chickens primarily corn produces an imbalance of omega-3 fats to omega-6 fats. Healthy ratios should be between 1:2 and 1:4, but corn-fed chicken eggs have a ratio of up to 1:20. Omega-3 fats are important for cardiovascular health because they reduce inflammatory reactions, but too many omega-6 fats negate their benefit.

In addition, corn-fed chickens are also susceptible to being contaminated with grain pesticides, which can build-up in the fatty tissues of animals. Genetically engineered corn is commonly used in chicken feed, but any long-term health effects of eating animals raised on GMO grain are unknown. Because corn-fed chickens are typically raised in CAFOs, they are given large amounts of antibiotics to reduce infection rates, which may affect their meat and eggs in ways that are currently not understood.

In Conclusion, Soy and Corn both can cause serious health issues in the animals that consume them which are passed to the person who eats them. We have chosen to feed all of our animals corn-free, soy-free, organic and non-GMO feed so that we are raising the healthiest animals possible!

Why are my steaks smaller than grocery store steaks?

In short: because we grow shorter cows.  A big part of our regenerative practice here is that we protect our soils and promote high quality, diversified pastures.  The American beef industry has gone off the deep-end with growing larger and larger beef cows.  Yes, these animals are bigger and carry more meat to sell per animal, but they’re only alive because they are pumped full of antibiotics, steroids and hormones!  We raise smaller beef cows that can thrive on their own, without medications, in natural wild environments.   In order to maintain these natural healthy environments, we use smaller breeds of cattle that don’t destroy pasture because of their weight, don’t need medications in order to grow, and don’t require grain to get fat!

About Free Choice Minerals

FREE-CHOICE MINERAL PROTOCOL

At Grazer Farms, we take a holistic approach to managing livestock nutrition. For our ruminant animals (cattle and sheep), we offer a free-choice mineral buffet that is moved along with them as they grazer from pasture to pasture.

What does “free-choice” mean?  The name itself describes it perfectly.  The animals are free to choose which mineral to consume – and how they choose it is the interesting part.   Each individual mineral or supplemental vitamin the animal could need is offered in separated compartments of a large natural cedarwood trough.  Their nose and tongue instinctively draws them to the vitamin or mineral their body needs at that time.  In turn, this tells us what’s lacking in our soils. For example, if the soil is depleted of things like Boron, Magnesium or Calcium, the plants that grow out of that soil are deficient as well.  And if the plants are deficient, the animals that eat these plants will be deficient.  And if we rely on these animals to be our own nutrient-rich food.… You probably see where this is going.  That old maxim, “you are what you eat” probably comes to mind.

This is how we achieve ultra nutrient-density in our meats – because these animals are not deficient in anything.  This is how we regenerate our soils.  This free-choice mineral program actively regenerates any problem areas of soil depletion through the animal’s own waste.  Seventy percent of the minerals they select and consume is given back to the land through their nutrient-rich & fertilizing manure and urine.  Pretty cool huh?!

*All of our supplemental free-choice vitamins and minerals are certified organic.

Order Deadline for Tuesday Shipment

Our shipping day is every Tuesday.  All orders must be placed by 11:59pm CST on Monday to be guaranteed shipment on Tuesday. Even if you place your order early Tuesday morning, it probably will not be shipped until the following Tuesday. This is because our dry-ice has already calculated and delivered for the orders that made the deadline.

Final Weight Price Adjustment

This notice is displayed for your review on every meat-product page. Our USDA-inspected processing facilities are state-of-the-art, yet still operated by humans that hand-cut these exceptional meats.  We have set up our online store with product-specific information that we believe is easily understandable and reasonable.  Each product description has details for how that specific product is priced with approximate package weights. We do not guarantee precise sizes and weights, but rather, we display the average or the median (middle) price for the weight range you select.  For example, if you select a whole chicken that weighs 4-5 lbs, the price displayed is for 4.5 lbs.  When you check out, your payment method will be held at that amount until we weigh your exact chicken on the day of shipping.  Once we have that weight, we adjust the price accordingly based on the price per pound. Another example: If you select a steak that weighs 9 ounces, the price displayed is for 9 ounces, and your payment method will be held at that price.  On the day we ship, we will select your steak within that 9oz range and weigh it.  That steak may weigh 8.1 ounce, or 9.8 ounces.  We will then adjust the price for that exact weight and capture the payment.

Billing and Payment Information

By providing a credit card or other payment method that we accept, you represent and warrant that you are authorized to use the designated payment method, and that you authorize us to charge your payment method for the total amount of your order or other purchase (including any applicable taxes and other charges). Your payment method will be pre authorized pending fulfillment and shipping. Once your order is shipped your payment will be finalized.

If the payment method cannot be verified, is invalid or is otherwise not acceptable, your order may be suspended or cancelled. It is your responsibility to resolve any problem we encounter to proceed with your order.

Shipping Details

Our shipping day is every Tuesday.  All orders must be placed by 11:59pm CST on Monday to be guaranteed shipment on Tuesday. Even if you place your order early Tuesday morning, it probably will not be shipped until the following Tuesday. This is because our dry-ice has already been calculated and delivered for the orders that made the deadline.

If you would like to cancel your order or combine multiple orders, please contact Customer Service at info@grazerfarms.com as soon as possible. We will do our best to accommodate your request. However, if the order has already been processed and packaged, changes are not possible.

If you receive an incorrect item, or an item is missing from your order, please reach out within two business days, and we will be sure you are taken care of!

All orders are individually packed in a box with insulated liners and dry ice. We calculate the dry ice needs for each individual address and our goal is to always get the products to you frozen. However, we cannot guarantee that every item  will remain completely frozen. As long as the meat is cold to the touch, products have not been compromised – it is still safe to eat. We recommend immediately refrigerating or freezing upon arrival. If any of your items are warm to the touch, please take a picture, then discard and do not eat it.  Email us immediately and we will try to make it right.

We have chosen to trust UPS to deliver all orders. All packages will be left without a signature and can be delivered as late as 8pm. You will be notified when your order has shipped and provided tracking details.

P.O. box addresses are not accepted.

We are not responsible for incorrect addresses or mistakes entered in shipping details. Any shipping instructions should be entered into the ‘note to seller’ section at checkout (NOT in the address section). We will forward shipping instructions onto UPS, however, we cannot guarantee drivers will follow instructions.

We offer free shipping on all orders over $250

Receiving Your Order

When your order arrives, please use caution if handling any dry ice that remains.  If any dry ice still remains (it usually has fully evaporated) we recommend leaving it in the box, placing the box in a safe place (like the garage or outside) and waiting for it to fully evaporate.

Open your package and remove all items.  All perishable items should still be cold to the touch.  If any are warm to the touch, please take a picture and do not save that item for consumption.  Discard it and send us an email info@grazerfarms.com within 2 days.  We will assess what happed and make it right.

Either freeze or refrigerate items immediately upon arrival. Some poultry products are packaged in a shrink bag that has a metal crimp preventing opening.  We recommend you keep this end up while thawing as some liquid may leak from that area.  We recommend thawing in the refrigerator and allowing 3-4 days until items are fully thawed.

Returns & Refunds

Perishable Items

Since our food products are perishable, we cannot accept returns. However, we will do our best to resolve any problems with unsatisfactory product in a timely and judicious manner.

We know the packaging materials, normal transit times (1-3 days), minimum frozen bulk requirements (approximately 7lbs), and the amount of ice necessary to ensure products arrive at your doorstep at minimum, partly frozen.

  • We package your order to withstand at least 3 days in transit. Most orders are delivered within 24-48 hours of leaving our facility.
  • If you receive your food within 3 days of leaving our facility, your food should arrive partially frozen or cold to the touch. Refrigerate or freeze for later use. If you’re concerned, check the internal temperature. Product should be 45 degrees Fahrenheit or colder, which is normal refrigerator temperature.
  • If you are concerned about shipping delays, we encourage you to request “extra ice“ at no additional charge. Just add a note in the “other special messages & notes” tab when checking out.

Once a perishable product leaves our facility to be delivered by UPS, we are no longer in complete control of the product. We rely on our shipping partner to handle your package safely and securely. If, however, you receive a product that is no longer cold to the touch, please contact us promptly. We recommend that you promptly check the temperature with a meat thermometer. Please leave the product in the shipping box when doing so. Check the manufacturer’s guidelines for your thermometer to determine the correct distance at which to measure temperature.

Refunds will be given for:

  • Items missing from your order
  • Orders that do not arrive at the shipping address you put on your order
  • Handling damages caused by the carrier and resulting in loss

If you are unsatisfied with your order for any reason, please contact our Customer Service Dept:

  • EMAIL: info@grazerfarms.com

We will happily review your order and offer a resolution. Please take pictures of any damaged product and email to info@grazerfarms.com

Depending on the circumstances, we may offer to:

  • Replace the product in question
  • Partial/full refund to your card or account.

On occasion, we have reports of product packages with pinholes or broken seals on the vacuum packaging when they arrive.  We take great care to inspect every frozen package before it is boxed. We visually verify the package is sealed and tight before it leaves our warehouse.  Any puncture to the packaging upon arrival is due to shifting and friction during transit. If the product is still 45 degrees Fahrenheit or colder, it is safe to refrigerate or freeze. If thawing in the refrigerator, we recommend putting the package in a dish or sealable bag in the refrigerator due to unseen pinholes in some packages. Otherwise, as it thaws, there could be juices that leak from the packaging.

Finally, we do not provide refunds for “toughness” of any meats.  Grass-fed meat is lean and non-forgiving with cook-times in comparison to grain-fed animals. It will dry out quickly when internal temperatures exceed limits.  Please visit our Resources page HERE for recipes and cooking tips!

Non-Perishable Items

As long as the items you ordered were fulfilled correctly, we expect the customer to keep them.  We stand by the quality of all of our products.  However, we are human – if  a mistake was made or items were damaged during transit we will certainly do our best to correct it.  Again, please take pictures and immediately contact customer support at info@grazerfarms.com.
